Role description Quality Project Manager (QPM)

In order to ensure that tasks in the quality planning process are completed on time, the QPM collects all necessary quality-relevant information (product, project, customer, supplier, etc.) and prepares it in a transparent and comprehensible form, shares it with the respective team (e.g. project manager, head of product line (stream), etc.) and ensures its task-related implementation.
Similar to the above point, the QPM is also responsible for and controls the advance quality planning process and the timely implementation of the content.

In the event of project-specific anomalies or bottlenecks, the QPM coordinates directly with the project manager in a solution-oriented manner.
For risk analysis and prevention, the role holder uses methods such as FMEA and Lessons Learned and, after evaluation, ensures targeted preventive measures and their timely implementation.
Key figures are defined to assess effectiveness, which are reviewed and tracked accordingly.
Findings from this tracking are continuously exchanged in the stream or project team, in particular with the head of the product line (stream) and the project manager.
With these methods and findings, the QPM supports the status and optimization of start-up and series projects with regard to test procedures and scopes, which the project manager series controls.
When coordinating inspection planning and test equipment planning, the implementation options are selected on the basis of the quality requirements and compared with the planning budget.
Responsible for series production support and the continuous optimization of quality-related issues. Deriving actions on the basis of the associated key figures or quality-relevant data such as rejects, rework, defect costs.
In the event of internal or external complaints, the QPM acts as the point of contact for the issues and works with the complaints manager (implementation lead) to ensure rapid resolution. The knowledge gained is processed in the lessons learned and then made available as feedback for new projects or new products - also across plants.
Support for the approval process in foreign plants (e.g. for relocations)
Professional skills
The QPM has in-depth knowledge of the common Q methods (APQP, FMEA, PPAP, VDA 2, SPC, 8D, Ishikawa, 5Why, MSA, VDA 5) and uses these independently and on an event-driven basis to achieve the above-mentioned objectives.
In order to present himself to the customer as a competent specialist, he knows the relevant standards and requirements of quality management and the corresponding customer-specific requirements. This leads to a professional external perception and generates economic new business.
The QPM uses the necessary IT systems such as SAP, MS Office, Babtec, Qliksense, quotation and project tools as well as the contract tool as required for the respective implementation.
For a professional approach, the QPM has basic knowledge of the production technologies of punching, forming and assembly techniques (joining), so that the process and method selection is target and solution-oriented.
In addition, an understanding of drawings (e.g. with regard to shape and position tolerances) and consideration of standards and customer-specific requirements is essential. This puts the QPM in a position to make solution-oriented suggestions in technical discussions.
In general, these skills enable the job holder to analyze complex problems, identify causes and establish sustainable solutions.
Sound knowledge of testing and measurement technology rounds off the profile.
